Area residents have ample opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit this weekend, thanks to a variety of holiday activities put on by area groups this Saturday, Dec. 8.
In NYA, the annual Breakfast with Santa event begins at 9 a.m. in the Pavilion. Tickets are still on sale for the event at The Flower Mill and are $5 per child. The West Carver Lions are sponsoring the event. See Page 3 for more information.
Later in the day, the Relay for Life team Blossoming with Hope is sponsoring the Christmas Tour of Homes (see separate article on this page).
In Cologne, the Lions are hosting Christmas in the Park at Lions Park from 4 to 7 p.m. That event includes a visit from Santa, horsedrawn wagon rides, a bonfire with a s’more station and more.
There will be a candy cane hunt at 4:30 p.m., tree lighting at 5 p.m. and Christmas caroling from 5 to 6 p.m. If conditions allow, there will also be sledding. Chili, hotdogs, hot chocolate and coffee will be available for purchase from the Lions. The shelter will also be heated this year for added comfort, and there will also be a place to drop off items for the fire department’s local toy drive.
Carver County Parks, in conjunction with the Carver County Historical Society, are also hosting Santa in the Park at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park from 3-5 p.m.
See more information on that event on Page 6.
