Waconia Lakettes head coach Amy Segner called last weekend’s competition at Lakeville North “fabulous.”
Competing as one of only three Class AA teams in a sea of Class AAA competitors, the Lakettes fared well. Finishing ninth of 17 teams in the high kick division, Segner said recent tweaks to the choreography helped the team to place well.
“We were all jumping for joy since we were being placed with much larger teams,” she said.
As the jazz routine also undergoes changes and modifications, the Lakettes were ranked tenth of 16 teams at the competition, and Segner was thrilled.
“[We’re] starting to modify the choreography and improve this routine by leaps and bounds,” she said.
The Lakettes are at the Academy of Holy Angels this Saturday, Dec. 15, and Segner said she hopes the scores will continue to climb. Holy Angels will be the last competition before the new year for the Lakettes.
They will next perform at Belle Plaine on Jan. 5. Waconia’s home invitational will be the following Saturday, Jan. 12, with the conference championships on Jan. 19 at Mound-Westonka.
