The Mayer Lutheran dance team made quite a showing for itself in the Crusaders’ first meet of the season.
Competing at Albany on Dec. 8, the Crusaders placed second in jazz, behind section rival Duluth Marshall, a team that finished runner up at the state competition last season.
Head coach Maryann Porter said the team executed a nearly flawless routine, something she did not expect to see so early in the season.
“I am amazed at the skill level we are working at already this year and I see lots of potential in this team,” she said.
The Crusaders will next compete at BOLD this weekend, against 11 teams, including three from Mayer Lutheran’s section, as well as Norwood Young America, a team that is both a conference and section competitor with LHS.
“This will give us a good snapshot of how our season is progressing at the halfway point,” Porter said.
