The 9th annual Waconia District Toy Drive was a huge success. The effort, organized by the Waconia Area Women of Today, helped bring Christmas gifts to over 250 children.
Thank you to all who helped:
• The wonderful businesses of Waconia who donated money and were toy drop sites.
• The clubs, organizations, businesses, church groups and individuals who donated money and gifts.
• The incredibly giving people of Waconia who donated gifts.
• City Hall for taking in gifts from businesses and donators.
• The Parks and Rec guys for bringing truckloads of gifts to the Fire Department.
• Mavis Mathistad and Bayview Elementary’s second grade for donating money and books.
• The Waconia Fire Department for the space, time and energy that it takes to put up with the Waconia Area Women of Today. Thank you also to the firemen who kept the station safe and kept us sane.
• The personal shoppers and gift wrappers who had smiles on their faces and volunteered their time and their talents.
• Kwik Trip, Pizza Ranch and Rey Azteca for donating food and drinks to keep the volunteers happy and fed.
• A huge thank you to Staffan and Terri Swanson for organizing the gift wrappers, helping out all day and for bringing in their new puppy. We all needed a puppy cute fix by that time of night.
• A colossal thank you to the Waconia Area Women of Today Toy Drive Committee. These women are resourceful, kind, long suffering, organized, hilarious and amazing.
• The Waconia High School Hockey Team (under Coach Dan Benham) did an incredible job unpacking boxes and organizing the gifts.
