Waconia Lions help deliver packages to military
The Waconia Lions support our members of the military serving abroad by making their Christmas a little better.
Manning the local post office during the first two Saturdays in December, the Lions paid for Christmas packages mailed to our military serving abroad. The packages not only came from the families of the military, they came from school classrooms, from veterans organizations and from groups of people that organized themselves to do a little something nice for our military at Christmas.
During the two Saturdays of the program, the Lions mailed more than 200 packages to our military that will not be home for the holidays. The cost of the project was approximately $2,837.
The local volunteers working on the project were Ricky Wagener, Joe Gifford, Tim “Jonsey” Hukriede, Bob Rausch and Chuck Schmidt. They report a very favorable response from the public for this project.
The Waconia Lions want to express their appreciation to The Waconia Patriot for publicizing the event, and a very special thanks to Chad Heldt and the Waconia Post Office staff for their hard work to get the job done.
