Hammers named Teacher of the Year

With her background in coaching, it should come as no surprise that Sarah Hammers is in her element when encouraging and challenging young people to do their best work.

A former collegiate volleyball coach, Hammers is in her fifth year of teaching at Central High School and Central Middle School, and was recently named Teacher of the Year for 2012-13 by the Central Educators Association (CEA).

“It’s an honor, but it’s also very humbling to be recognized. I don’t really know what to say, but it means a lot because it comes from your peers,” said Hammers.
