The Waconia Lakettes dance team faced off against some of the strongest Class AA teams in the state on Dec. 15 at Holy Angels.
“This weekend’s competition was one of the toughest,” head coach Amy Segner said.
Placing 13th of 17 teams in jazz and 14th in kick, Segner said the competition brought some stark realizations to the team.
“It was a good wake up call that some major changes need to happen in both kick and jazz from cleaning routines, changes in dancers’ spots, technique of kicks and turns and so on!” she said. “Over our holiday break we will be making the necessary changes to start our climb towards our goal for a fourth showing at [the] state competition.”
The Lakettes will return to the competition floor Jan. 5 at Belle Plaine, with kick also competing at Delano Jan. 10.
They will host their home invitational the following Saturday, January 12.
