LHS wins in kick debut

In the first Minnesota River Conference dance competition of the season, the four MRC teams – Mayer Lutheran, Jordan, Belle Plaine, and Norwood Young America – faced off at Jordan Middle School on Dec. 20.

In their debut performance of the routine, the Crusaders won the kick category. NYA was second, while Belle Plaine and Jordan were both disqualified.

“The girls’ first competitive performance was strong and they really worked well today, as a team, on the court,” said Mayer Lutheran head coach Maryann Porter. “It was a great first competitive performance for us in high kick.”

Belle Plaine won the jazz division, and the Crusaders were second. NYA finished third while Jordan did not compete.

Porter said the Crusaders have had a great year thus far and are improving every week.

“They are a hard working team, filled with determination, and I am looking forward to the second half of our season,” she said.

The Crusaders will break for the holidays and return to competition January 11.
