WHS gymnasts fall to New Prague

In their final meet before the winter break, the Waconia gymnasts suffered their first loss of the season at New Prague on Dec. 18. The Wildcats are now 3-1 this season after the 142.075-132.075 loss. Waconia head coach Molly Oscarson said the meet was rough for the team.

“Not all of our scores showed how well some of the routines were,” she said. “Four of the girls stuck their beam routines.”

Senior Alexanna Gluck was the Wildcats’ top finisher of the day, pulling off a second place all around finish with a score of 33.925.

Seniors Mckensie Livermore and Katie McMahon were third (33.200) and fourth (32.250) in the all around, followed by freshman Ella Hommer in fifth (32.075). Hommer was third on vault (9.075), narrowly inching over Gluck in fourth at 9.05. Gluck was also fourth on the bars (9.3) and was the team’s sole placeholder on floor, finishing fifth at 8.575.

McMahon and Livermore took fifth and sixth on both bars and beam. McMahon was fifth on bars with a score of 7.875, and sixth on beam with an 8.2. Livermore scored a 7.6 on bars, good enough for sixth, and was fifth on beam at 8.6.

The Wildcats will begin the new year at Big Lake on Jan. 5.
