A fire that broke out after hours at Hydro Engineering in Norwood Young America was doused by the building’s sprinkler system before any serious damage occurred last Thursday night, Dec. 20.
According to Norwood Young America Fire Chief Steve Zumberge, a neighbor called in the fire at approximately 10:45 p.m. after hearing the fire alarm going off inside the building. When Zumberge arrived on the scene about a minute after the emergency page went out, smoke and water were coming out from the door.
When firefighters gained access to the building, however, they found that there was no fire left to fight.
“Basically, the sprinkler system put it out, saving them possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars. They could have lost everything,” said Zumberge.
