Choir Spaghetti Dinner

FRIDAY, JAN. 11 – The Waconia Power Company family of show choirs presents its 13th annual Spaghetti Dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. at Waconia High School. Steak fry dinner

SATURDAY, JAN. 12 – A steak fry dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at American Legion Post 150 (233 Olive Street, Waconia). Includes baked potato, cole slaw, bread, beverage. Price: $11.

Community food drive

SATURDAY, JAN. 12 – A community food shelf drive will be held by LCMS Lutheran Youth who will be going door to door in as many Waconia neighborhoods as possible between the hours of 12:45 and 2:45 p.m. to replenish the Waconia United Food Shelf after the holiday season. If you won’t be home, please consider either putting a bag of food outside your front door or dropping off your donation at the food shelf.

Winterblast 2013

JAN. 12-13 – The community is invited to Winterblast 2013, a two-day event at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waconia that will include a winter golf contest, fisherman’s lunch, live band/dance featuring The Losers from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, Sunday brunch from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., kids games, prizes, cash raffle (tickets available at St. Joe’s), more.

Free throw contest

Immunization Clinic

MONDAY, JAN. 14 – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th ST, Chaska) will hold an Immunization Clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. Public Health provides immunizations to residents who do not have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover immunizations. TUESDAY, JAN. 15 – SONS OF NORWAY – Scandia Lodge – Waconia presents award-winning author Doug Ohman, who will present “Just Down the Road: Historic Churches of Minnesota” during a meeting held at the Waconia American Legion. TUESDAY, JAN. 15 – The Waconia Blue Line Club will sponsor a food drive for the Waconia United Food Shelf during the Waconia vs. Holy Family hockey game at the Waconia Ice Arena at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15. $1 off admission with donation to food shelf. Non-perishable items only, please.

Early Childhood screen.

FRIDAY, JAN. 18 – Early Childhood Screening is a free service offered by District 110 staff that will check a child’s overall development and health. Recommended screening age is between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 years. Screening will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center, 520 Industrial Blvd. Info: 442-0613.

Pet adoption day

SATURDAY, JAN. 19 – Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. It will be hosted at PETCO in Eden Prairie.  Kittens, cats and dogs will be available. All cats and dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. THURSDAY, JAN. 24 – Waconia Wrestling invites all former Wildcat wrestlers to return to WHS and join parents, fans and wrestling sponsors to cheer on the 2012-13 team as it hosts the New Ulm Eagles in a home dual at 6:30 p.m. Waconia Wrestling alumni will be recognized as will the newest member of the Wildcat Wrestling Hall of Fame. Free admission for all former Waconia wrestlers.

Caregiver Support group

MONDAY, JAN. 28 – Encore’s Carver County Adult Day Services Program and Emerald Crest Assisted Living Memory Care have partnered up to provide a Caregiver Support Group to address the issues of caring for the aging. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with other caregivers and local senior professionals to gain insight, resources and support!
