Obits – Jon English Kinard
Jon English Kinard, age 76, of Waconia, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Funeral Service was held Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Westbrooke Fellowship Church (8725 Church Lake Blvd.), Victoria with Rev. Bill Bonner officiating.
Jon was born on Jan. 9, 1936 in Blackwell, Texas the son of Bert and Lawrence (English) Kinard.
Growing up in Arizona, Jon loved to shoot with his parents and brother. His passion for the outdoors, dogs, and being a gun enthusiast was something that never left him.
Jon went to school for music where he met and married Clare Peters. He made his mark, however, not in music but in the computer industry. Working for Unisys is what brought him to Minnesota the first time, then later to Pennsylvania. After losing his second wife Kay, he moved back to Minnesota in 2009 to spend his last years with his kids and their families. We are so very grateful that he did.
Since moving to Waconia, Dad enjoyed spending time with his family, getting connected at his church, and making new friendships which were a great joy and blessing to him. We love, and will miss his laugh, smile, and so many other things, but we are so grateful to have had him back in Minnesota before he went Home.
Jon was preceded in death by his daughter Kimberli Kinard; granddaughter Abby; wife Kay; parents Bert and Lawrence Kinard; brother Bert Kinard.
Jon is survived by his loving family: children Jon Jr. (Sharon) Kinard of Coon Rapids, Crystal (Don) Hamer of East Bethel, Beth (Chris) Zimmerman of Waconia, Kirsten Gash of Florida, Jared Gash of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Nicholas Kinard, Kevin (Heather) Kinard, Andrew (Lindsey) Kinard, Anna (Matt) Picchetti, Jon Kinard III, Gabriel Zimmerman, Shelby Zimmerman, Lily Zimmerman, Glen Gash, Jennica Gash; great-grandchildren Blake, Jett, Ava, Carson, Dillon, Charli, Hayden, Keegan, Grady; sister-in-law Mary Kinard of Mesa, Ariz.; niece Debbie (Daniel) Schultz of Mesa, Ariz.; other relatives and friends.
