Obits — Wesley F. Majestic
Wesley “Wes” Falk Majestic, age 85, of Norwood Young America, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Elim Nursing Home in Watertown. Private burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.
Wes Majestic was born on Feb. 1, 1927, in Minneapolis, the son of Adolph and Hylda (Falk) Majestic. Wes was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at the Methodist Church in Norwood Young America. He received his education in Norwood Young America and was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1944. Wes furthered his education by attending Hamline University and graduating in 1949. He entered active military service in the United States Navy on Feb. 1, 1945. In May of 1946, Wes signed up to participate in “Operation Crossroads,” a nuclear bomb testing program at the Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. He was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Shangri La. Wes received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy on Sept. 22, 1946, as an aviation electronic technician Mate – 3rd Class. On June 17, 1950, Wes was united in marriage to Lois (Graupmann) Majestic. The couple made their home in Anoka, Champlin, Edina, Mankato, Britt and Minnetonka, Minn., and Minot, N.D., and then returned to Norwood Young America. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Jean and John. Wes and Lois shared over 62 years of marriage. Wes worked for B. F. Goodrich Tire Company as a sales representative. He retired in 1985. Wes was a member of the American Legion Post #0343. Wes enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and watching sports on television. Wes passed away at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 26 days. Wes is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Hylda Majestic; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hillard “Fritz” and Luella Graupmann.
Wes is survived by his: wife, Lois Majestic of Norwood Young America; children, Jean Storer and her husband, Peter, of Mequon, Wis., John Majestic and his wife, Jill, of Shorewood; grandchildren, Kim Kryder and her husband, Gus, of Elliot, Maine, Kelly Thomas and her husband Bryan, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Stacy Valenzuela and her husband, Nick, of Bloomington, Alex Majestic and his fiancée, Jessi Upton, of Chaska; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Nora Kryder, Rico Valenzuela; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Shirley Graupmann of Grand Rapids; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials will be given to the Norwood Methodist Church and the Elim Nursing Home in Watertown. Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Norwood Young America. Online obituaries and guest book available at www.hantge.com.
