Dan Buckman

Dan Buckman: July 18, 1912 to Dec. 29, 2012.
Throughout all of his 100 years of life, Dan with his sharp mind always thought ahead, was full of new ideas and eager to accomplish his goals. Anyone who knew Dan was familiar with his kind and calm demeanor.
Family was very important to him, including his wife Margaret, the love of his life; his brother in law Bill and family, who lived two homes up the street on Christmas Lake; his four brothers and two sisters, and lots of nieces and nephews.
Dan worked in engineering and product design at Carter-Day Company. He enjoyed many hours in his woodworking shop expertly creating beautiful things for his family and friends.
During WWII, Dan served in the Navy on the Flag Ship USS Appalachian. After the Japan armistice, Dan, with other Navy personnel, went on a conducted tour of the devastation at Hiroshima.
Life-long member of Excelsior United Methodist Church. Memorials to Westview Acres, Waconia, Minn., where Dan enjoyed 28 fulfilling retirement years. Private internment.
