Alex Telford, a seventh grade student at Trinity Lutheran School in Waconia, won the school-level competition of the 26th National Geographic Bee held on Jan. 8th and has a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship.
All Minnesota school winners, including Telford, will now take a written test. The top scorers will be eligible to compete at the State Bee.
The National Geographic Society will provide an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. for state champions and teacher-escorts to participate in the National Geographic Bee National Championship in May. The first-place national winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship and a lifetime membership in the Society.
