Transitions Expo

THURSDAY, JAN. 24 – The Transitions Expo will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Waconia Enrichment Center (504 Industrial Blvd). The expo is for families, students (of all ages), and adults with a disability and will feature representatives from several community resources. Waconia wrestling night

THURSDAY, JAN. 24 – Waconia Wrestling invites all former Wildcat wrestlers to return to WHS and join parents, fans and wrestling sponsors to cheer on the 2012-13 team as it hosts the New Ulm Eagles in a home dual at 6:30 p.m. Waconia Wrestling alumni will be recognized as will the newest member of the Wildcat Wrestling Hall of Fame. Free admission for all former WHS wrestlers.

Waconia 2013 Ride-In

JAN. 25-27 – The Waconia 2013 Ride-In will be held at Lake Waconia Regional Park. Includes Ice Breaker Party (Friday night), trail ride, swap meet, auctions, MVSS drag racing, Oval Racers Alliance oval racing, loud snowmobile contest, Saturday night banquet, autograph session, and snowmobile show (Sunday). Snowball Open

SATURDAY, JAN. 26 – Sponsored by the Orono Lions, the Snowball Open is a full 18 hole golf course built for one day on Long Lake (Hennepin County) in the middle of winter. Holes are sponsored by local businesses; proceeds aid Lions to support local charities and the community. Entry fee: $25, payable at the event. Course opens at 9 a.m. Tee times available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (tee time: 612-965-0153).  $100 prizes for best dressed team and best sled. $50 prize for best “Up North Hat.”

Caregiver Support group

MONDAY, JAN. 28 – Encore’s Carver County Adult Day Services Program and Emerald Crest Assisted Living Memory Care have partnered up to provide a Caregiver Support Group to address the issues of caring for the aging. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with other caregivers and local senior professionals to gain insight, resources and support! Immunization clinic

MONDAY, JAN. 28 – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th ST, Chaska) will hold an Immunization Clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. Public Health provides immunizations to residents who do not have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover immunizations. Adult and childhood vaccines available. A $14 fee is requested for the administration of each MnVFC vaccine. No one will be denied service if unable to pay. Info or appt: (952) 361-1329.

THURSDAY, JAN. 31 – Parents / guardians of eighth grade students who will be entering Waconia High School next fall are invited to an informational meeting in the high school auditorium from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Topics include: staff introduction, registration process and timeline, test and graduation requirements.

Early Childhood screen.

FRIDAY, FEB. 1 – Early Childhood Screening is a free service offered by District 110 staff that will check a child’s overall development and health. Recommended screening age is between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 years. Screening will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center, 520 Industrial Blvd. Info: 442-0613.

FEB. 4-5 – The WHS Instrumental Music Department presents “Backstage Jazz Dinner Concerts” at the high school at 6 p.m. both nights.
