JAM! Jesus and Me!
Wednesdays – Program designed to help kids think bigger, better and grander thoughts of our awesome God! Meets every Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Watertown from 3-6 p.m. A time for all kids in grades 1-5 to grow in their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ and learn how to build Christian relationships with others. We will be studying God’s Word, teaching how to apply it to their lives, having fun with arts/crafts, music, skits, games and fellowship! Also homework time and light supper served. Trinity Day Care
Trinity Lutheran Church has added daycare staff who will be available during church services for those parents interested in utilizing this service during the worship services. As always, children are highly encouraged to participate in worship, but this new service will be available for those who wish to utilize it.

Ice fishing contest
Sat., Feb. 2, 1-3 p.m. – An ice fishing contest and raffle will be held on Lake Whaletail in Minnetrista, sponsored by the Watertown Lions Club. All proceeds go to Boy Scout Troop 209 to help send scouts to summer camp. 1st prize portable ice house. Many door prizes will be awarded on the lake. For more information call 952-297-6029. Pet adoption day
Feb. 2, noon-3 p.m. – Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption at PETCO, in Chaska. Kittens and cats ages 4 months to 9 years-old will be available. There will be tuxedo, solids, bicolored, tabby, tortie cats to choose from and a few that are declawed. A blind kitten will also be there. Dogs four months to 10 years will be there. Some of the dogs include: Chihuahua, border collie, pointer, husky, pitbull mix, beagle mix, terrier mix, black lab mixes, and Heinz 57 mixes. All cats and dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. Sun., Feb. 3 – The Watertown Lions Club will hold its annual pancake breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 3, serving from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
Trinity Open House
Thur., Feb. 7, 5:30-7:30 p.m. – Trinity Preschool in Watertown will be holding an open house for the 2013-2014 school year. Parents and children are invited to come see the preschool rooms and meet teachers Cindy Essen and Casondra Jopp. We offer programs for both 3 year-olds and 4 and 5 year-olds. Registration is open to children who will be 3, 4, or 5 years old by Sept. 1 and reliably potty-trained. Registration will be taken at the open house. The preschool is located in the education wing of Trinity Lutheran Church (513 Madison St. SE) in Watertown and is licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services. SPED event for parents, teachers
Fri., Feb. 15, 8:30-11:30 a.m. – Watertown-Mayer Special Education Department and the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEAC) will be co-sponsoring a free event at the Performing Arts Center. Presenters include Jody Van Ness- Autism Consultant, and WMSE staff members and is titled “Executive Functioning Deficits Impacting Children, Youth, and Adults Diagnosed with ADHD, Dyslexia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome”. Executive Function (EF) refers to the cognitive set of skills we use to solve problems. EFmay be one of the least studied and most frequently overlooked contributors to academic and behavioral problems at school. Individuals struggling with EF are often labeled as lazy, forgetful, unmotivated, always late, and easily distracted. Learn how this disorder impacts planning/organization, flexibility, prioritizing information, emotional regulation and self-monitoring, including a review of “light” assistive technology intervention tools. Deanery Day of Recollection
Feb. 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – The Council of Catholic Women invite all area women to our annual Deanery Day of Recollection for Lent to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Christ the King retreat Center, 621 First Ave. S., Buffalo. Feb. 19, 6:30-9 p.m. – Carver County Licensed Family Child Care Association will be hosting their monthly training. Come and learn about developing healthy eating habits for children. “LANA”, Learning and Nutrition for Preschoolers will be held at the Kindergarten Center in Jonathan.
