WHS preregistration

THURSDAY, JAN. 31 – Parents / guardians of eighth grade students who will be entering Waconia High School next fall are invited to an informational meeting in the high school auditorium from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Topics include: staff introduction, registration process and timeline, test and graduation requirements.

Trinity Open House

THURSDAY, JAN. 31 – Trinity Lutheran School in Waconia will host a Preschool-8th Grade Open House from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visit classrooms, meet teachers, and review curriculum. St. Joe’s Open House

THURSDAY, JAN. 31 – An informational meeting for students entering grades PK-8 in the fall will be held at at St. Joseph Catholic School in Waconia at 6:30 p.m. Topics include: staff introductions, outline of curriculum,  registration process, visit the classrooms and a tour of the Education Center.  Childcare available. Waconia GBB Night

FRIDAY, FEB. 1 – Make plans to attend Waconia Girls Basketball Youth Night when the Waconia Wildcats take on Annandale, at 7:30 p.m. at WHS. All WBA, community ed, and middle school basketball players admitted free to the game. Door prizes at halftime and the first 100 girls into the game get a Wildcat Girls Basketball team poster. A table will be set up in the lobby following the game where players will be available to autograph the posters for the youth players.

Childhood screening

FRIDAY, FEB. 1 – Early Childhood Screening is a free service offered by District 110 staff that will check a child’s overall development and health. Recommended screening age is between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 years. Screening will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center, 520 Industrial Blvd. Info: 442-0613.

Wild Game Dinner

SATURDAY, FEB. 2 – The Waconia Lions Club will hold its 31st annual Wild Game Dinner at Lake Waconia Event Center. Hors d’oeuvres: 4 p.m. Dinner: 7:30 p.m. Gun, cash raffles. Silent auction. Winterfest Carnival

SATURDAY, FEB. 2 – Come inside from the cold weather and have some fun at Safari Island Community Center’s 3rd annual Winterfest Carnival from 1 to 3 p.m. Win awesome prizes and play fun winter themed carnival games such as ice fishing pond, snowball toss, minnow races, and much more! Pet adoption event

SATURDAY, FEB. 2 – Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. at PETCO in Chaska.            Kittens, cats and dogs available. All cats, dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. Dance Sections
SATURDAY, FEB 2 – Enjoy an afternoon of competitive dancing at Waconia High School from noon  to 4 p.m. The dance sections will include performances by teams from Belle Plaine, Delano, Glencoe- Silver Lake, Holy Family, Hutchinson, Litchfield, Marshall, Mound-Westonka, Montevideo, New Ulm, Orono, Waconia, and Willmar.

SUNDAY, FEB. 3 – Join the Pre-bowl fun with the Waconia Fellowship of Christian Athletes from 1 to 3 p.m. at Waconia High School for games, food and an encouraging message from Kelly Landsverk, WHS teacher.

Prom fundraiser
MONDAY, FEB. 4 – The Waconia High School Prom Committee will hold a fundraiser from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pizza Ranch in Waconia.  WHS students and parents would love to serve you and appreciate your contributions toward the prom.

WHS jazz concerts

FEB. 4-5 – The WHS Instrumental Music Department presents “Backstage Jazz Dinner Concerts” at the high school at 6 p.m. both nights. Enjoy an evening of jazz performed by the WHS Jazz I and Jazz II bands while enjoying a three-course meal prepared by Waconia’s own Rich Curtis and Mark Sanborn. Bayview kindergarten
THURSDAY, FEB. 7 – Registration will take place for the 2013-14 kindergarten class at Bayview Elementary.
