Helen B. Lentz, age 85, of Waconia, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Funeral service held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church (601 2nd Street East) in Waconia with Rev. Phil Wagner officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Visitation held Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Helen Lentz was born on Feb. 20, 1927 in Waconia the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Rhode) Terwedo. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. Helen was united in marriage with Orle W. Lentz on March 18, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran by Rev. John Stehr. The couple has always made their home in Waconia.
Helen loved both vegetable and flower gardening, and sewing clothes and pillow cases. When not digging up the dandelions, she cherished the time sitting outside in the backyard and just relaxing. Helen enjoyed spending time with her son Brian watching television and having a good conversation. Her favorite shows were the Wheel Of Fortune and All My Children. She liked to play 500 Rummy with her husband Orle. Always a homemaker, Helen liked cooking meals for her family and keeping her home in perfect order. Helen looked forward to her grandchildren’s visits. She spent a lot of time with her dog Max.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Bertha Terwedo, and brothers and sisters.
Helen is survived by her loving family: husband Orle Lentz of Waconia; daughter Carol Lentz of Holloway; son Brian Lentz of Waconia; grandchildren Rick LaFountain, Adam LaFountain, Cassandra Sampson and Dustin Haff, Megan Sampson and fiancé Keith Atkenson; great grandchildren Christina, Sandra, Zoie, Gaborik; sister Appie Galvin of Hopkins; sister-in-law Arlys Kiesow of Stillwater; her dog Max; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Serving as casket bearers Brian Lentz, Mike Schmakel, Rick LaFountain, Adam LaFountain, Cassandra Sampson, Megan Sampson.
