After competing in the Section 3AA dance competition on Feb. 2 at Waconia High School, the Holy Family Fire dance team has qualified for the state tournament in jazz.

The Fire, who won the Wright County Conference high kick title, will now send their jazz dancers to state on Feb. 15.

Holy Family finished third in the Section 3AA competition, behind Marshall and Mound-Westonka.

Fire head coach Kristin Macklin said the team is very pleased with its performance at the section competition.

“Our team has had quite an adventure this year and had to overcome many obstacles,” she said. “No matter what place we came in, we are so proud of them in how far they have come as individuals, as dancers and as a team.”

The state tournament will be held Feb. 15-16 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
