On Jan. 24, the Waconia Chamber held its annual meeting at the Waconia Theatre.
The meeting featured the passing of the gavel from past chair Carolyn Johnson of KleinBank to the incoming chair, Summer Jensen, co-owner of The Stash. Summer and Carolyn both remarked on their experiences and goals for the Chamber.
The elections of new Directors, Jeff Schulz of The Jeff Schulz Team-RE/MAX Advantage Plus, Jessa Theis of Mackenthun’s Fine Foods, Phyllis Roth of Elkay-Medallion Cabinetry and new treasurer, Todd Swanson of Waconia Public Schools also took place.
The Directors going off the board are Kim Mackenthun of Mackenthun’s Fine Foods, Randy Ash of Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Lynn Laumann of Lynn Laumann Photography, Jan Bratsch of Waconia Manufacturing and Curt Stockinger, formerly of Milltronics Manufacturing.
The Waconia Chamber is a business membership organization and depends on the strength and skills of good people like these who volunteer their time and talents to advance the mission and vision of the Chamber.
A Chamber of Commerce is much different than a charitable community organization such as the Lions or the Rotary.
We are a business membership organization which exists to promote its member businesses, to stand up for business and to promote a business environment that enhances the quality of life in the community.
Our Chamber also serves as the Visitor’s bureau, promoting Waconia and all of its amenities and events. The www.DestinationWaconia.org website is a great place to start your search for a business or service that you need, and to find out about what’s going on!
There is a community events calendar there, as well as an Events tab to help you with your search.
Carmen Gesinger and I serve as the staff for this vibrant organization and are working every day to promote our Chamber member businesses and the community as a whole. If you have a business and are not yet a member, we’d love to talk to you about why we are an essential part of your business success!
Upcoming Chamber events are Escape to the Islands on March 2 and the Business, Home and Family EXPO on April 6. See you soon!
