Free Hot dinner at St. Paul’s

1st Thursday, 5:30-6:30 p.m.  – Please join St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (505 Westminster Avenue. SW in Watertown) once a month for a wonderful full course hot dinner. All are invited every first Thursday of the month. Info: 955-1498.


JAM! Jesus and Me!

Wednesdays – Program designed to help kids think bigger, better and grander thoughts of our awesome God!  Meets every Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Watertown from 3-6 p.m.  A time for all kids in grades 1-5 to grow in their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ and learn how to build Christian relationships with others.  We will be studying God’s Word, teaching how to apply it to their lives, having fun with arts/crafts, music, skits, games and fellowship!  Also homework time and light supper served.  Suggested donation of $25 for the year.  Please sign up with Kathy Maas at [email protected] or 952-955-2936.



SPED event for parents, teachers

Fri., Feb. 15, 8:30-11:30 a.m. – Watertown-Mayer Special Education Department and the Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEAC) will be co-sponsoring a free event at the Performing Arts Center.  Presenters include Jody Van Ness- Autism Consultant, and WMSE staff members and is titled “Executive Functioning Deficits Impacting Children, Youth, and Adults Diagnosed with ADHD, Dyslexia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome”.  Executive Function (EF) refers to the cognitive set of skills we use to solve problems. EFmay be one of the least studied and most frequently overlooked contributors to academic and behavioral problems at school. Individuals struggling with EF are often labeled as lazy, forgetful, unmotivated, always late, and easily distracted. Learn how this disorder impacts planning/organization, flexibility, prioritizing information, emotional regulation and self-monitoring, including a review of “light” assistive technology intervention tools.  Questions: contact Mike Piersak at 952-955-0200.


Roast beef dinner

Deanery Day of Recollection

Feb. 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – The Council of Catholic Women invite all area women to our annual Deanery Day of Recollection for Lent to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Christ the King retreat Center, 621 First Ave. S., Buffalo. The day begins with registration at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Topic for the day is “We walk by Faith.” The cost for the day is $30. For reservations, call Nancy at 763-682-1394.


ACCC Annual Meeting

CCLFCCA Training

Feb. 19, 6:30-9 p.m. – Carver County Licensed Family Child Care Association will be hosting their monthly training. Come and learn about developing healthy eating habits for children.  “LANA”,  Learning and Nutrition for Preschoolers will be held at the Kindergarten Center in Jonathan.  Certificates will be issued for two hours of training.  The cost is free to members, others needing a certificate will need to pay $20.  Providers may also view the SIDS/Shaken Baby Video at 6:30.  If you have any questions, please view our website at or call Sue at 952-466-4735.


NAMI meeting

Thur., Feb. 21, 7 p.m. – The support group of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will meet on Thursday, Feb.21, at the Waconia Moravian Church.  Come and join us.


Family movie

Fri., Feb. 22, 6:30 p.m. – The Watertown-Mayer PTO will host Family Movie Night at the Elementary School. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Hotel Transylvania will begin at 7 p.m. FREE Entry. Reasonably priced concessions. Open to the public. All students must be supervised by a parent or a sibling who 16 or older.


Arsenic and Old Lace

River City Theatre Company presents ‘Arsenic and Old Lace” at Watertown-Mayer Primary School. Feb. 22, 28 and March 1: 7 p.m. Feb. 23-24, March 2: 2 p.m. Adults: $6, youth (17 & under): $5.


Schwichtenberg benefit

Sat. Feb. 23, 4:30-7:30 p.m. – Bruce and Darlene Schwichtenberg are lifelong residents of Carver County. A few days ago Bruce’s Auto Mechanic’s tools and equipment, accumulated over 25 years, were lost in a shop fire.  Friends of the Schwichtenbergs are sponsoring a Chili feed/contest on their behalf, on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Waconia American Legion, 233 Olive St South, Waconia. Suggested donation: $15 for adults – $10 for ages 14 and under – children 6 and under free. If entering the contest please call 952-467-3929  by Feb. 21 to register your chili or for donation info.


Waffle Breakfast

Sun., Feb. 24, 9 a.m. – noon. – Delano Council 4653 Knights of Columbus and the St. Mary of Czestochowa’s men’s club will be having a waffle, sausage and French toast breakfast at St. Mary of Czestochowa (1867 95th St. off Cty. Rd., 13, Rural Delano). The proceeds will go to the Knights of Columbus Seminarian Fund. The cost is a free will offering.


French Toast breakfast

Sun., Feb. 24, 10-11:30 a.m. – St. Peter Lutheran Church will host a French Toast Breakfast featuring fresh strawberries and pineapple, apple sauce, sausage, lemonade, milk and coffee. Firearms training

Solos, couples, and families–experience for yourself all the fun and exercise that popular American square dancing offers today.  No partner needed.
