Obit: Audrey A. Tanke

Audrey Ann Tanke, age 86 of Norwood Young America, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at the Elim Home in Watertown. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Emanuel Lutheran Church (18175 County Road 50) in Hamburg with Rev. Donald Andrix officiating. Visitation held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Serving as casket bearers Brad Mlynar, Bob Mlynar, Andy Mlynar, John Tanke, John Miller and Luc Silseth.

Audrey Ann Tanke was born the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Kleinschmidt) Stark on June 27, 1926 in Springfield. She was baptized on March 27, 1927 at the United Methodist Church in Springfield. Audrey was confirmed at the United Methodist Church in 1940. After graduating from the Comfrey High School Audrey took training to be a stenographer. She had lived in Alaska and Colorado before moving to St. Paul where she was employed in banking. On May 28, 1977 Audrey was united in marriage with Hillary Tanke at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg by Rev. Laurence L. Meyer. Audrey was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid and Bible study groups. She loved to cook and enjoyed providing meals for helpers on the farm. Audrey was very fond of the animals on the farm and often she would be found taking pictures of them. She loved the outdoors and while living in Colorado she spent much of her free time skiing. Audrey enjoyed traveling and had been to Europe and many places in the United States. Audrey will be remembered for her quiet, peaceful personality and herĀ  many interests.

She is preceded in death her parents, Albert and Elsie Stark; brothers Lyle, Marvin and Virgil; sister-in-law Florence Mlynar.

Audrey is survived by her husband of 35 years, Hillary Tanke of Norwood Young America; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Audrey Tanke of Northome, Ed Mlynar of Lester Prairie; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
