Mary L. Hardel, age 82, of Norwood Young America, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at the Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice Home in Chaska.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church (14735 CR 153) Cologne with Rev. Eric Zacharias officiating; visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service at church; interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Mary was born on Aug. 13, 1930 in New Ulm the daughter of William and Louise (Hildebrandt) Dietz. She was baptized on Sept. 14, 1930 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord by Rev. William Uhrich and confirmed on April 2, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord by Rev. Matthiae. On June 8, 1952 Mary was united in marriage to Ervin J. Hardel at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord by Rev. Matthiae.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed being in her garden tending to her flowers. Mary volunteered at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia for 20 years. She also worked at Safari Island in Waconia for a period of time. Mary was always going out with her friends for a bite to eat or anything else that was going on in the community.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ervin; parents William and Louise Dietz; brothers William and Willard Dietz.
Mary is survived by her loving family: sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Diane Hardel of Chaska, Richard Hardel of Cologne, John and Sharon Hardel of Chanhassen; grandchildren Stephanie Hardel, Shelly Winter, Ashley Waller, Jesse Waller; great-grandchildren Ryan, Alex, Teagan, Bradon and Mason; great-great-grandchild Rilynne; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Marian and Erwin Pomplun of Gaylord, Robert Hardel of St. Peter, Charlotte Hardel of Arlington; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
