The 2013 Class A state gymnastics individual gymnastics tournament was held Friday, Feb. 22 at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion. Gymnasts from the 78 Class A teams from across the state descended on Minneapolis to compete for a spot on the medal stand.

Waconia senior Alexanna Gluck was the Wildcats’ sole state qualifier this season after winning the all around at the Section 2A meet on Feb. 15.

Now a four-time state participant, Gluck competed in all four events and was eligible to medal on beam, floor exercise, and in the all around.

She finished 21st in the all around division with a total score of 35.70. Austin High School’s Sela Fadness won the all around with a total score of 38.575.

On balance beam, Gluck placed 26th with an 8.70, just behind Big Lake’s Laura Jore (8.725). In the floor exercise, Gluck’s other medal-possible event, she finished 21st with a score of 9.025.

Gluck scored an 8.750 on the uneven bars and a 9.225 on vault.

Waconia High School gymnastics head coach Molly Oscarson was very proud of the way Gluck performed at the state competition.

WHS GYMN Gluck(2) CMYK“Alexanna had a great last meet of her career,” Oscarson said. “She was poised and handled the pressure with grace and maturity.”
