Drug Takeback Day in Mayer

The Mayer city Council approved a recommendation from the senior commission to host a drug takeback day. The event will take place on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mayer Community Center. Mark your calendar. To fill the requirement for two deputies on duty during the event, Deputy Jake Hodge will flex his regular hours, and the Carver County Sheriff’s Office will attempt to get a reserve officer to work the event.

The program accepts prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicine, vitamins, supplements and pet medicines. The program is intended to combat the growing prescription drug abuse problem, especially among teens, as well as accidental poisoning.

Senior citizens to meet

On Monday, March 4, all senior citizens are urged to attend the monthly pot-luck gathering at the Mayer Community Center. Give us a try and plan on having a good time with other senior citizens from this vicinity.
