WEEKDAYS TO MARCH 20 — The gym at Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg is open to the public for walking between 6 and 9 a.m. Free coffee available.

Library storytime
TUESDAYS TO MARCH 26 — Family storytime for all ages, with a focus on children age 2 and up at 11 a.m. at the Norwood Young America Library (314 Elm Street 467-2665). Children, parents and their caregivers are invited to come and share 30 minutes of stories, music and movement that encourages the development of early literacy skills. No registration required.

Free tax assistance
WEDNESDAYS TO APRIL 10 — Receive free tax assistance in the main dining room of The Harbor (300 N Faxon Rd, NYA) from 1 to 3:30 p.m. No appointment needed.

KC fish fry
FRIDAY, MARCH 1 — The Ascension Knights of Columbus are hosting their annual fish fry at Ascension Church Social Hall from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Serving crispy Alaskan Pollack, au gratin potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, beverages and dessert. Cost is $10.50 for adults and take outs, $5 for kids 6-12, and free for kids age 5 and under. Advance tickets are $9, and are available from Lano Equipment, KleinBank in NYA and Citizens State Bank in NYA.

Diabetes fundraiser
SATURDAY, MARCH 2 — A juvenile diabetes fundraiser will be held at the Blue Note Ballroom in Winsted (320 3rd Street S) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shop craft and business vendors, take Easter pictures, enjoy a kids’ carnival and live music, take a massage, or participate in a silent auction and bake sale. Tim Blotz of Fox 9 News will be a guest speaker. All proceeds go to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Pancake breakfast
SUNDAY, MARCH 3 — Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg (1815 County Road 50) is hosting a pancake breakfast from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, applesauce and beverages. All proceeds will be given to support a LCMS missionary in South Africa and a missionary doctor through Samaritans Purse. Adults $7, ages 5-10 are $4, under 5 years free. Supplemental funds applied for through Thrivent.

Legion Aux. meeting

Silent auction, dinner
SATURDAY, MARCH 16 — Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg is hosting a silent auction and dinner with choice of smoked pork chops or turkey starting at 5 p.m. Hundreds of items available, including automotive, dining, entertainment, tools, sporting goods, home and garden and much more. Live auction starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at State Bank of Hamburg, Chameleon Salon and at the school.

Winter Splash
SATURDAY, MARCH 16 — The Central Wrestling Club is holding its annual Winter Splash event at Baylor Park. Lunch at 11 a.m., costume judging at 12:30 p.m. and jumping into Eagle Lake at 1 p.m. Register to jump with a donation of $20 for high school students, $50 for adults, $100 for teams or $2 for spectators. Spring Bingo
FRIDAY, MARCH 22 — The Hamburg Lions will host a Spring Bingo at 7 p.m. at the Hamburg Community Hall. Cost is $8 for 25 games of bingo and meat raffle. Win turkeys, hams, sausages. Refreshments will be served. Proceeds used for various community and Lions-sponsored programs.

St. Bernard’s fish fry
FRIDAY, MARCH 22 — St. Bernard School in Cologne will be hosting an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 3:30 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. The cost is $9.50 per adult and $5.50 for children ages 5-10, and children 4 and under are free. Features home-made side dishes and desserts. Take-out orders available.

Pancake breakfast
SUNDAY, MARCH 24 — The NYA Lions are hosting a pancake breakfast at the NYA Pavilion from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Meal includes sausage, scrambled eggs, applesauce and pancakes (including the Lions’ much-demanded blueberry pancakes) with real homemade maple syrup. Cost is a freewill donation. All proceeds go to projects and/or donations in the community.

Baseball fish fry
FRIDAY, MARCH 29 — Norwood Baseball will host a fish fry from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Willkommen Memorial Park Pavilion in NYA. Alaskan Pollack, au gratin potatoes, beans, coleslaw and silent auction with autographed sports memorabilia.

NYA Easter Egg Hunt
SATURDAY, MARCH 30 — The West Carver Girl Scouts are hosting the annual NYA Easter Egg Hunt at Legion (Pool) Park. Registration at 1:30 p.m. and the hunt begins at 2 p.m. Open to kids age 1-10.

All Saints VBS
MONDAY, JUNE 10 TO THURSDAY, JUNE 13 — All Saints Lutheran Church will have Vacation Bible School June 10-13, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for age 3-grade 6 (entering fall 2013). Everyone is welcome.
