PRESENT TO MARCH 20 — The KleinBank Flutterbuys Relay for Life team will be selling 10-stem bunches of fresh cut tulips in time for Easter for $10 per bunch. Orders can be placed by calling KleinBank at (952) 467-5222 or filling out your order form at the NYA KleinBank before March 20. Thank you for supporting the Relay for Life’s fight against cancer in 2013!
Free tax assistance
WEDNESDAYS TO APRIL 10 — Receive free tax assistance in the main dining room of The Harbor (300 N Faxon Rd, NYA) from 1 to 3:30 p.m. No appointment needed.
THURSDAY, MARCH 14 — Community Casino Day will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Harbor main dining room. Bring a food item for the food shelf and receive “poker” chips. Play casino type games and then bid on prizes at the end of the day. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments served.
THURSDAY, MARCH 14 — The Willkommen Heritage and Preservation Society will hold its quarterly meeting at the Heritage Center (102 E Main St., NYA) at 7 p.m. Topics of discussion will focus on future displays and the country school display for Stiftungsfest. If you attended a country school and would like to share your memories or some item of memorabilia, please feel free to attend. All members and anyone interested in the history of NYA are welcome! St. John’s paper drive
FRIDAY, MARCH 15 TO SUNDAY, MARCH 17 — Kindergartners and 5th grader at St. John’s Lutheran School (27 First St. NW, NYA) will be sponsoring a paper drive. Workers will be available to help unload on Friday from 3-5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon. Any paper products are acceptable: newspaper, cereal boxes, cardboard, magazines, paper bags, egg cartons, phone books, etc. No plastic, please.
Silent auction, dinner
SATURDAY, MARCH 16 — Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg is hosting a silent auction and dinner with choice of smoked pork chops or turkey starting at 5 p.m. Hundreds of items available, including automotive, dining, entertainment, tools, sporting goods, home and garden and much more. Live auction starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at State Bank of Hamburg, Chameleon Salon and at the school.
SATURDAY, MARCH 16 — The Central Wrestling Club is holding its annual Winter Splash event at Baylor Park. Lunch at 11 a.m., costume judging at 12:30 p.m. and jumping into Eagle Lake at 1 p.m. Register to jump with a donation of $20 for high school students, $50 for adults, $100 for teams or $2 for spectators. Wood Duck Box day
SATURDAY, MARCH 16 — The 14th annual Youth Wood Duck Box Building Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Burns Excavating Shop, 3470 CR 21 in Mayer. Come build a wood duck box with your child (limit one per child, two per family). Free hot dogs, chips, pop. Activities include laser shoot game, duck ID, archery. Info: Chip at (952) 200-3176.
Concert at St. Paul’s
SATURDAY, MARCH 16 — The Male Choir from Hope Haven, Rock Valley, Iowa will perform a concert at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church, (15470 Co. Rd. 31, Hamburg). The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the performance there will be a time of fellowship with a pot luck supper, beginning at 6 p.m. Bring a dish to share if you are able. Everyone is welcome. There will be freewill offerings for services to persons with disabilities at Hope Haven and around the world. The church is currently collecting wheelchairs, including broken ones.
SUNDAY, MARCH 17 — The Knights of Columbus will be hosting bingo starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension Social Hall in Norwood Young America. Attendees will be able to play 14 games of bingo. Come have fun and try to win some great prizes. Cost is $6 for one card, $10 for two cards. It’s St. Patrick’s Day – show your Irish! Wear something green and be eligible for a St. Patrick’s Day bonus. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
MONDAY, MARCH 18 — Come and join the 2013 Relay for Life Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the NYA Pizza Ranch. Bring all your ideas, your enthusiasm and a friend to our first committee meeting this year. Mark your calendars, this year’s relay will be on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to midnight.
Dist. 47 DFL meeting
MONDAY, MARCH 18 — The monthly meeting of the Senate District 47 DFL will be held at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Fire Station (80th St., south side of Hwy 5). Meeting room directly accessible from rear parking lot.
TUESDAY, MARCH 19 — The Carver County Licensed Family Child Care Provider Association welcomes providers to its monthly training and networking session at the Early Childhood Center (10600 Village Road, Chaska) from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Training is free to members or $25 to nonmembers. Phyllis Porter will present, “Infant Development.” More information is available at cclchildcare.org.
FRIDAY, MARCH 22 — The Hamburg Lions will host a Spring Bingo at 7 p.m. at the Hamburg Community Hall. Cost is $8 for 25 games of bingo and meat raffle. Win turkeys, hams, sausages. Refreshments will be served. Proceeds used for various community and Lions-sponsored programs.
St. Bernard’s fish fry
FRIDAY, MARCH 22 — St. Bernard School in Cologne will be hosting an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 3:30 to 8 p.m. in the cafeteria. The cost is $9.50 per adult and $5.50 for children ages 5-10, and children 4 and under are free. Features home-made side dishes and desserts. Take-out orders available.
Ice Out 2013
FRIDAY, MARCH 22 — The Waconia Hockey Association hosts Ice Out 2013: Vegas Returns at the Waconia Ice Arena from 6 p.m. to midnight. Features casino-style gambling tables with great prize raffles, wine and beer tastings, a silent and live auction, and music. SATURDAY, MARCH 23 — The Parrotheads Relay for Life team is having a fundraiser at the NYA Pavilion. There will be food and drinks available. Come out and support the Relay. One hundred percent is given to the American Cancer Society.
Come Together Event
SATURDAY, MARCH 23 — The Ridgeview Friends & Family Come Together Event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Safari Island Community Center, 1600 Community Drive, Waconia. Enjoy a wide range of activities and presentations designed for children and adults of all ages, including health screenings, community and personal health and safety information and much more! SATURDAY, MARCH 23 — Zion Lutheran Church and School in Mayer invites all area children and their families, through grade 6, to attend Zion’s Annual Easter Faire from 2-4 p.m. at the Zion School gym. SUNDAY, MARCH 24 — The NYA Lions are hosting a pancake breakfast at the NYA Pavilion from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Meal includes sausage, scrambled eggs, applesauce and pancakes (including the Lions’ much-demanded blueberry pancakes) with real homemade maple syrup. Cost is a freewill donation. All proceeds go to projects and/or donations in the community.
Easter egg hunt
SUNDAY, MARCH 24 — An Easter egg hunt will take place at Hamburg’s Bi-Centennial Park at 2 p.m. for ages 1 to 10. Sponsored by the Hamburg Fire Department Relief Association, Hamburg Lions Club, Wm. Mueller and Sons, Inc., State Bank of Hamburg and Chameleon Salon. Event will be held outdoors. Please dress appropriately.
Baseball fish fry
FRIDAY, MARCH 29 — Norwood Baseball will host a fish fry from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Willkommen Memorial Park Pavilion in NYA. Alaskan Pollack, au gratin potatoes, beans, coleslaw and silent auction with autographed sports memorabilia.
NYA Easter Egg Hunt
SATURDAY, MARCH 30 — The West Carver Girl Scouts are hosting the annual NYA Easter Egg Hunt at Legion Park. Registration at 1:30 p.m. and the hunt begins at 2 p.m. For ages 1-10.
SUNDAY, MARCH 31 — Church of Peace will host an Easter Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Free will offering. Proceeds from the breakfast will go to Christa Felt to help with the care of her son, Christian Weisinger. Worship will follow at 9 a.m. Church of Peace is located on the south side of Highway 212. FRIDAY, APRIL 5 — The 17th Annual All Saints Women’s Outreach Luncheon will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come enjoy homemade salads, breads and desserts. Adults $8, kids 4 and older $3, under 3 is free. Take outs are available. All Saints Church is located on North Hwy 212 in NYA next to Young America Corp.

MONDAY, JUNE 10 TO THURSDAY, JUNE 13 — All Saints Lutheran Church will have Vacation Bible School June 10-13, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for age 3-grade 6 (entering fall 2013). Everyone is welcome.
