Zion School News

Zion Lutheran School and Church invites all children and their families, through Grade 6, to attend Zion’s Annual Easter Faire on March 23 from 2-4 p.m. in the Zion School gym. This is a great opportunity to reach out to families in our community. Bring your neighbors and friends. We will be making Easter cards, decorating cookies and egg hunting.

A spelling bee will be held at Mayer Lutheran High School for area grade school students on April 6 starting at 9 a.m.

Zion VBS

June 10-14 is the date set for the Vacation Bible School for this year. Mark your calendar. Theme for this year will be “Tell it on the Mountain: Where Jesus Christ is Lord.” Registration opens on April 28.


The Zion 7/8th grade boys’ and girls’ basketball teams have been chosen to go to the National Basketball Tournament in Valparaiso, Ind. The boys’ team took second place in the state basketball tournament and the girls’ team took third. Watch this space for the date of nationals.

DandyLions Easter Event

Members of the Mayer-Watertown DandyLions will host an Easter event at the Mayer Community Center on Saturday, March 23, for all area boys and girls. It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be games, prizes and refreshments. The Easter Bunny will be there. Bring your camera to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. If you don’t have a camera, someone will be available to take your child’s picture with the Easter Bunny. Plan on having a fun time with your children. There is no charge for this program.

Scholarships Available

There are scholarships available for high school seniors living in this school district. If you are interested, please give Sara Leuth a call at 952-288-3934 before April 15 with your questions.

Dates of Importance

Friday, March 22, there will be garbage only pickup in the City of Mayer. Have bins at curbside by 7 a.m.

Monday, March 25, members of the Mayer City Council will have a meeting at 6:30 p.m.
