February saw the end of basketball season and the beginning of spring workouts for the baseball and softball teams at Crown College.
The Crown women’s basketball team suffered through another difficult season while guard Judy Mundt-Metzger was named to the All-Conference second team at the season’s end. The senior guard finished her career with 1,486 points and was ranked 15th nationally with a 20.6 scoring average this season.
The men’s basketball team said goodbye to five seniors, including Taylor Jones who scored his 1,000th career point on senior night in a Crown victory. Jones also broke the school record for career steals with 216. The men’s team finished 11-14, the most wins since joining the NCAA in 2008.
The team has improved its record each of the last four seasons. Standout seven-foot-one center Anthony DiLoreto was named to the All-Conference first team and All-Defensive team after leading the conference in blocks and rebounds. He ranked third nationally with 3.38 blocks per game.
