Just For Kix competes at United We Dance competition

On March 17 the Waconia Just For Kix teams competed in the United We Dance competition in Bloomington.  The event featured a total of 149 competing teams which included over 2,000 performers.

Mini Kix (fourth and fifth grade) competed in the kick division against four other teams.  The Mini Kix team has competed in two previous competitions: St. Cloud on Jan. 26th where they took 3rd place and Apple Valley on March 2nd where they also placed 3rd.  In this most recent competition, the Mini Kix placed 2nd after a strong, clean performance filled with great energy.

Middle Kix

Middle Kix (sixth and seventh grade) competed in the kick division against two other teams.  The Mini Kix team has competed in two previous competitions: St. Cloud on Jan. 26th where they took 4th place and Apple Valley on March 2nd where they took 3rd.  In this most recent competition the Middle Kix placed 2nd after completing their fast-paced routine with improved skill, strength and stamina.

Mini Jazz

Mini Jazz (3rd-5th grade) competed in the jazz division against three other teams.  The Mini Jazz team has competed in two previous competitions: St. Cloud on Jan. 26th where they took 1st place and Apple Valley on March 2nd where they took 3rd place.  In this most recent competition the Mini Jazz placed 1st after performing their near-flawless routine with great enthusiasm and skill.

Waconia JFK includes local area students age 3 to eighth grade.  The Waconia Just For Kix program is in its fourth year of performance under the direction of Sarah Nelson.  The next competition is April 14th in Rochester.

Waconia Just For Kix will host its annual Spring Show and new dancer registration on May 19th at Waconia High School Gym at 2:00 p.m.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the heart and hard work my dancers have put into their practices and performances,” Nelson said. “My dancers are incredibly special and make me so proud.”

Just For Kix is a national leader in dance instruction and is committed to youth advancement through performance. Based out of Brainerd, Minn., the organization has over 200 locations in 10 states.  Annually, the company provides nine United We Dance competitive opportunities for affiliated programs to compete.  Coming together to compete provides an opportunity for teamwork and promotes excellence.
