Drop-In and Play Open House

Sat., April 6, 8:30-10:30 a.m. – Trinity Preschool in Watertown will be holding a Drop-in and Play Open House.  Parents and children (ages 5 and younger) are invited to a morning of indoor fun on the large-motor play equipment at Trinity Preschool. You’re also invited to check out our preschool room and meet our teachers. Registration for the 2013-2014 school year will be taken at the open house. Programs for both 3 year-olds and 4 and 5 year-olds. The preschool is located in the education wing of Trinity Lutheran Church (513 Madison St. SE) in Watertown. If you are unable to attend you may call the preschool at (952) 955-2240 for information and a registration form.


Pet adoption day

Sat., April 6, noon – 3 p.m. – Carver Scott Humane Society will hold a pet adoption at PETCO, in Chaska. PetCo is located off Hwy. 41 and Pioneer Trail. CSHS is without its own building and all pets are housed in foster care. Kittens, and cats ages 4 months to 10 years old will be available. A blind kitten will also be there. Dogs four months to 10 years will be there. All cats and dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. Fees apply. Tax Help Dates

Thur. April 11, 9 a.m. – noon – The Carver County Library is sponsoring a tax help date in Watertown at Trinity Church,  513 Madison Street SE. Please do not contact the church for info. No appointments –  First Come – First Served. E-filing at all locations.   Bring with you: Copy of 2011 tax return, all tax forms received in mail, W-2 forms, 1099’s, CRP or Property Tax Statement, SSA, etc. CCL Volunteer Tax Counselors are trained by the IRS, Minnesota Department of Revenue, and AARP Foundation and must be certified by the IRS to counsel. Taxpayers with unusual and complex tax questions should seek help from the IRS or a paid preparer.


“Names of God” Music Service

Thur., March 28, 7 p.m. – St. Paul’s Maundy Thursday service begins with singing and preparing our hearts for worship at 6:45 p.m. This worship service will  honor the Name of God through congregational songs, scripture readings, choir anthems, praise band and video. Easter Services

Thur., March 28, 7 p.m. – Watertown Evangelical Free Church will be offering Maundy Thursday communion in the chapel from 7 a.m. -noon and 3-8 p.m. Good Friday service March 29 at 7 p.m. Easter Prayer Vigil March 29-31 from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. Easter Sunday Service at 8 and 10:30 a.m., breakfast at 9:15 a.m.


Easter Egg Hunt

Sat., March 30 – 9 a.m. – noon – St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown will hold its 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Christ Community Lutheran School. Non-perishable food items and personal care items for the Friends For Life Food Shelf will be collected.


Peace Easter Breakfast

Sun., March 31, 6:45 – 8:45 a.m. – All are invited to Easter Sunday breakfast at Peace Lutheran Church of Watertown. A free will offering will be supplemented by funds from Thrivent Financial. Easter Sunday worship services will be held at 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.  All are welcome!  Peace Lutheran is located at 600 Kristi Lane (Co. Rd. 20, east of W-M Elem. School).


Basic Computer Classes

Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17, 6-8 p.m. – At the Watertown Library. Class size limited to four. Designed for those with little or no computer experience. April 3 class is Computer Basics. April 10 Class is Internet Basics. April 17 class is E-mail Basics. Free.


WAHS meeting

Thur., April 4, 1 p.m. – The Watertown Area Historical Society will meet at the Watertown Community Center.  Visitors are welcome.


Ukrainian Egg painting

Sat., April 6, noon – 3 p.m. – Easter is coming soon, it is time to get artistic and create some colorful eggs to share and enjoy! Parents, learn the fine art of Ukrainian Egg Painting with your children 10 and up at the Carver County Historical Society in Waconia. Younger children will enjoy the opportunity to do an Easter Egg hunt and simple egg decorating. Pre-registration and payment required by March 27 in order to provide supplies for all attending. Mentor training seminar

Sat., April 6, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Registration is now open for “Be With,” a Mentor Training Seminar hosted by Freshwater Community Church in St. Bonifacius. Learn practical skills and proven strategies on how to live a lifestyle of mentoring and reach your full leadership potential. Taught by LEAD222, a non-profit international coaching and mentoring ministry based on 2 Timothy 2:2. Open to anyone interested in learning or refining their mentoring skills. Storybook Players

Tuesdays, April 9-23 – Homeward Bound Theatre Company to offer “Storybook Players” Tuesdays, April 9-23 from 3:05 p.m. to 4:35 p.m. at Watertown-Mayer Elementary School where 3rd through 5th graders will act out classic tales like Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Rumplestilskin, Stone Soup, or Billy Goats Gruff, etc., laughing and learning as they bring these stories to life. Students will learn theatre skills emphasizing spatial awareness, voice control, listening skills and imagination development. PTO Spring Fundraiser

Fri., April 19,  5-7:30 p.m. – “Light up the Night” fundraiser will be a family friendly event.  The event includes a silent auction, Taste of Watertown, Student/Faculty Basketball games, Bingo, and Deal or no Deal game show.


Library Book Sale

Fri-Sat., April 19-20 – Friends of the Watertown Library Booksale will be held on Friday, April, 19, from 1-6 p.m., and Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Watertown Community Center. All money goes to support the Watertown Library enhancements. If you have any books to donate to the book sale, contact Kristin jones at the Library at 952-955-2939.


Crappie Contest

Sat., April 20 – Lake Minnetonka Area Lion’s Club 2nd Annual Crappie Contest. Right on Beautiful Lake Minnetonka at Bayview Event Center in Excelsior.   Go to for registration and more details. Silent Auction hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 100 percent of proceeds of the Silent Auction will go to the American Diabetes Association of Minnesota.  Many great auction items from local retailers and restaurants – there’s something for everyone.  Plus, great raffle prizes.  Bring the whole family!


CCLS Fun Run

Sat., April 20, 8:30 a.m. – Christ Community Lutheran School will host Running for Your Heart’s Desire, including a 1K, 5K and 10K on the Luce Line Trail. All races start downtown at Madison St. and Lewis Ave. Bus to both 5K and 10K start lines leaves at 8 a.m. 10K starts on trail at Hwy. 92, 5K starts at Hway. 127. Celebrate healthy babies

Robin Harkess Benefit

Sat., May 4, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.  – Benefit will include (11-1), silent auction and raffle. Suggested donation of $5 per meal. Robin was diagnosed with Scleroderma in December 2012. The autoimmune disease affects the skin and internal organs such as the GI tract, lungs, kidney and heart. Robin and her husband Mark are longtime rural Delano residents. Robin has been dealing with cancer for the last 18 years and a brain disease for the last eight years.
