Raymond J. Sicheneder, age 88, of St. Bonifacius, passed away on Friday March 22, 2013 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius with Father Thomas Balluff as celebrant of the Mass; visitation was Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church and one hour prior to the Mass at church; vigil prayers were held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening; interment St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Raymond was born on April 16, 1924 in Hannibel, Wis., the son of Andrew and Alma (Splettstoeszer) Sicheneder. On Feb. 12, 1946 Raymond was united in marriage to Beatrice Ebert at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius by Father Wohlfert.
Raymond served in the army from 1941-1945. He fought in the European theatre and landed on Normandy Beach. Raymond received two purple hearts, a bronze star and the Occupation of Germany medal. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus being a Grand Knight and the American Legion Post in St. Bonifacius. Ray was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping hunting, playing cards with family and friends, especially sheephead and cribbage. But above everything else he loved being with his wife and family.
Raymond is survived by his loving family; wife of 67 years Beatrice; children and spouses Adrian and Karen Sicheneder of St. Bonifacius, Steven and Jill Sicheneder of Wyoming, Minn., Karen and Gerald Elling of St. Bonifacius, Sharon Day and friend Chad Hirman of Waconia, Jan and Randy Knott of New Germany; grandchildren Jeff Sicheneder, Christina Wichelman, Kimberly Sicheneder, Sarah Sicheneder and Bryce Larson, David Sicheneder, Michael and Jo Lynn Elling, Katie Elling, Jason and Deanna Dennis, Ryan Dennis, Jennifer and Travis Jolicoeur, Heidi Knott and fiance Jon Noerenberg, Andrew Knott; great-grandchildren Amber, Tatum, Cole, Mack, Taylor, Alexandra, Travis, Sam, Macy, Madelynn; great-great-grandson Brock; brothers and sisters-in-law Vernon and Dee Schwalbe of Mound, Lowell and Marilyn Schwalbe of Sun City, Ariz.; sister Suzie Light of Watertown; sisters-in-law Josephine Sicheneder of Mound, Fran Born of Chaska; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Urn Bearers were Raymond’s grandchildren.
