Bachmann announces Congressional Art Competition

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) announced today that her office is seeking submissions for the annual Congressional Art Competition from high school students living in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District.
High school students will have the opportunity to submit their original artwork for review by a panel of artists. The winning piece from each Congressional district goes on display in the Cannon House Office Building tunnel that leads to the U.S. Capitol. The winning artist from the Sixth District will receive two round trip tickets to Washington, D.C. to attend the reception which opens the display.
“Year after year, I am blown away by the amazing talent of the students in the Sixth District. Constituents, staff and members of Congress have the opportunity to walk past the winning art pieces every day, and I can’t wait to see the art that is submitted this year for the competition,” Bachmann said.
The competition is open to all high school students in the Sixth District. Students interested in submitting their pieces of art should review the guidelines available at
All artwork must be received in Bachmann’s Anoka office by April 26, 2012. Winners will be announced on May 6.
Last year’s winner was Brenna Frost of Blaine with her acrylic painting entitled “Self-Portrait”.
