JAM! Jesus and Me!

Wednesdays - Program designed to help kids think bigger, better and grander thoughts of our awesome God!  Meets every Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Watertown from 3-6 p.m.  A time for all kids in grades 1-5 to grow in their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ and learn how to build Christian relationships with others.  We will be studying God’s Word, teaching how to apply it to their lives, having fun with arts/crafts, music, skits, games and fellowship!  Also homework time and light supper served.  Suggested donation of $25 for the year.  Please sign up with Kathy Maas at maasfamily234@gmail.com or 952-955-2936.

Storybook Players

Tuesdays, April  9-23 – Homeward Bound Theatre Company to offer “Storybook Players” Tuesdays, April 9-23 from 3:05 p.m. to 4:35 p.m. at Watertown-Mayer Elementary School where 3rd through 5th graders will act out classic tales like Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Rumplestilskin, Stone Soup, or Billy Goats Gruff, etc., laughing and learning as they bring these stories to life. Students will learn theatre skills emphasizing spatial awareness, voice control, listening skills and imagination development. Fun with the Splatter Sisters

Fri., April 12, 6:15-7:45 p.m. – Bring the family to this fun night out with the …..Splatter Sisters. First we will play in the Multi-Purpose room and then finish the night with upbeat songs for moving and shaking! A very lively concert of classic kids songs with LOTS of audience participation. Quality family time! Free event in the Watertown-Mayer Primary School gym.

Youth Pitching Clinic

Sun., April 14, noon-3 p.m.  - Watertown-Mayer Youth Baseball will hold a pitching clinic presented by former professional pitcher Tom Traen in the middle school gym for players ages 8 to 16 years old. For all that would like to start pitching or expand on your current skills. Please register with Scott Meyer at scott@drscottmeyer.com so we know how many players to prepare for.

 

CCLCCA Training

Tues, April 16, 6:30-9 p.m. - Join other child care providers for our monthly training and networking on April 16 at the Early Childhood Center located at 10600 Village Road in Chaska from 6:30-9 PM.  Shelley Butler will present, “I’m Good at What I Do”.  You will earn two hours of training.  Fire extinguishers can be serviced for a fee and Provider of the Year awards will be announced.  For more information, see our website at http://www.cclchildcare.org/.  Nonmembers pay $25 and members attend the training at no charge.

 

Rose Sale

Thur., April 18 - Waconia West Carver Rotary is sponsoring it’s Rose and Spring Bouquet Sale. The event supports Rotary’s local and international youth programs. Fri., April 19,  5-7:30 p.m. – “Light up the Night” fundraiser will be a family friendly event.  The event includes a silent auction, Taste of Watertown, Student/Faculty Basketball games, Bingo, and Deal or no Deal game show.

 

Library Book Sale

Fri-Sat., April 19-20 – Friends of the Watertown Library Book Sale will be held on Friday, April, 19, from 1-6 p.m., and Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Watertown Community Center. All money goes to support the Watertown Library enhancements. If you have any books to donate to the book sale, contact Kristin jones at the Library at 952-955-2939.

 

Crappie Contest

Sat., April 20 – Lake Minnetonka Area Lion’s Club 2nd Annual Crappie Contest. Right on Beautiful Lake Minnetonka at Bayview Event Center in Excelsior.   Go to www.mnlakeparty.com for registration and more details. Silent Auction hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 100 percent of proceeds of the Silent Auction will go to the American Diabetes Association of Minnesota.  Many great auction items from local retailers and restaurants – there’s something for everyone.  Plus, great raffle prizes.  Bring the whole family!

Sat., April 20, 8:30 a.m. – Christ Community Lutheran School will host Running for Your Heart’s Desire, including a 1K, 5K and 10K on the Luce Line Trail. All races start downtown at Madison St. and Lewis Ave. Bus to both 5K and 10K start lines leaves at 8 a.m. 10K starts on trail at Hwy. 92, 5K starts at Hwy. 127. Story writing workshop

Sat., April 20, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. - Meet the author Colette Omans Nicoletta, and listen to one of her stories at the Carver County Historical Society, 555 West First St. in Waconia. Learn the story writing process and get illustrating tips to create your own works of art. This workshop will include an original illustration and story that visitor participation helps to create. Through this program, you can get a glimpse of the creative writing process with a fun, informal format. Get your creative juices flowing and learn to create children’s books from a local Carver County author and art teacher. Families and individuals of all ages welcome! World Book Night

Tues, April 23 – World Book Night is an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person. Each year on April 23, tens of thousands of people go out into the communities and give half a million free World Book Night paperbacks to light and non-readers.” The Watertown Library has been accepted as a distribution center for 2013 World Book Night and will be the only library site of the Carver County Libraries to pick up book kits for WBN. The Library is also a site where 20 books will be given away for free. Stop in on April 23rd for your chance to walk away with 1 of 20 book titles! Library Volunteers

May 1-5  – The Watertown Library is looking for volunteers to box up the books in the library and take down the shelves in preparation for the remodel of the library. Those interested in doing so are asked to either sign up at the library for volunteer shifts or call the library to sign up.

 

Robin Harkess Benefit

Sat., May 4, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.  – Benefit will include (11-1), silent auction and raffle. Suggested donation of $5 per meal. Robin was diagnosed with Scleroderma in December 2012. The autoimmune disease affects the skin and internal organs such as the GI tract, lungs, kidney and heart. Robin and her husband Mark are longtime rural Delano residents. Robin has been dealing with cancer for the last 18 years and a brain disease for the last eight years.
