Cologne makes selection on city administrator

During a special council meeting held by the Cologne City Council on Monday, April 8, John Hendel was chosen to be the new city administrator for Cologne. Hendel is a Cologne resident and is currently employed as the Sales & Marketing Manager at Mid-County Coop in Cologne.

According to Mayor Matt Lein, Hendel was named pending background check, drug test, and a signed contract. Lein said the Personnel Committee is negotiating a contract with Hendel this week and a start date remains to be determined.

The Cologne City Council is expected to vote on the hiring during the regularly scheduled council meeting set for 7 p.m. on Monday, April 15.

Cologne has been without a city administrator since October 2012. Hendel is the third finalist to be named to the position in recent months. For more information, see the April 18th edition of the Norwood Young America Times or Waconia Patriot.
