The Emanuel Lutheran School girls’ basketball team finished fourth in the Minnesota State Lutheran School tournament, held March 1-3 at Concordia University – St. Paul. The team was also invited to play in the National Lutheran School Tournament of Champions (32 teams) on March 21-24 in Indiana.

This was the first time that an Emanuel team has been invited to participate in the national tourney, and the Raiders were the youngest team and one of the two smallest schools in the tourney.

The Emanuel girls first played Faith Lutheran (Las Vegas) and won by a score of 31-18.  They then went on to defeat Pilgrim Lutheran of Minneapolis in a late-night nail biter by a score of 26-24.

The team made it to the elite eight on Saturday and took on Hales Corners Lutheran (Wisconsin), but lost by a score of 25-33.  This is the closest any team came to beating Hales Corners who eventually became the National Champion.  On Sunday, the Raiders lost to Immanuel Lutheran (Illinois) who went on to take 5th.   The Emanuel team would like to thank all those who supported them on this journey and watched/cheered via the live broadcast from their computers at home.  It was a wonderful experience for the team, not only in competition, but also in faith and fellowship.
