Citywide cleanup Day

The city of Mayer has contracted with Waste Management to provide curbside city cleanup day. It will be Saturday, April 27. Items that will not be accepted at the curb are tires, appliances, lawn mowers, electronics and construction waste.


Zion School News

Students in Zion’s fifth through eighth grade classroom will be putting on a musical at Mayer Lutheran High School on Friday, April 26, at 7 p.m. Title of the musical is “Ever After.” Plan now to attend.


Craft Day at Zion

Craft Day will be held on April 27 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. Come for a couple hours or stay for the whole day. $10 secures you a spot and includes food, booth and dinner. Bring your own drink. RSVP to Karla Borgendale at [email protected] or call 612-231-8670.


Safe the date for VBS

Zion Lutheran School will be having Vacation Bible School June 10-14. “Tell it on the Mountain: Where Jesus Christ is Lord,” is the theme for this year’s session. Registrations can be made starting April 6. Call the school office or go online to register on Zion’s Web site.


Senior Citizens met

Sixteen persons enjoyed another delicious pot luck dinner on Monday at the Mayer Community Center as our monthly get together. The game of Bunco was played after the meal. our next gathering will be held on Monday, May 6. Tell your friends about us and plan on bringing them to the next pot luck. Everyone age 55 and older is welcome to attend.


Poppy Day

The annual Poppy Day sponsored by the Mayer/New Germany Post 601 will be held on Friday, May 3. Members will be selling Poppies on this day throughout both towns.


Citywide Garage Sales

The spring city-wide garage sales will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18. Anyone can be a part of the sale.


Lawn watering rules

It is that time of the year again to remind everyone about the watering rules. There is to be no watering between the hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. We must use the odd even policy. Special circumstances do allow watering outside of the odd even policy. Call the city offices for the exceptions. Second water meters for outside watering are available at city hall.


Compost site opens

The compost site opens this week. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to noon. Wednesday evening hours are 5-8 p.m. The compost site is located on County Road 30 west of Highway 25.


Interested in firefighting?

The Mayer fire Department is looking for new members to assist in the challenging field of fire and emergency services. The MFD also has a Firefighter Explorers program for students 14 to 20 years old. For further information, contact the city offices.
