John “Jack” Powers, age 86, of Waconia, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (41 E. First Street) in Waconia with Fr. Martin Shallbetter as celebrant.  Interment in the church cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
John Peter “Jack” Powers was born Jan. 22, 1927 the son of Clarence J. and Clara M. (Roseler) Powers in St. Joseph, Mo. On April 17, 1948 John was united in marriage with Dorothy M. Woods at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. John’s career as a successful plant manager took his family to six different states over his lifetime.
He loved fishing, gardening, painting and genealogy.  John was very dedicated to his church. John gave his service to every church. While in Hot Springs Village, Ark., John chaired the building project for a new church. He was a faithful member of the Knights Of Columbus and its Fourth Degree.
John is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Clara Powers, brother Robert Powers.
John is survived by his loving family: wife of 64 years Dorothy Powers of Waconia; daughters and sons-in-law Terry and Steve Hoelz of Cologne, Sue and Jerry Vennum of Arlington, Texas, Janet Powers of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren Matthew Hoelz and fiancé Jenna Urbain, Mark Hoelz, Drew Vennum and wife Amber, Cale Vennum and wife Sarah; great-grandson Xavier Vennum; brother Jim Powers of St. Joseph, Mo.; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
