Roland “Rollie” William Narr, age 84, of Norwood Young America, Minn., was called to his eternal rest on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia, Minn. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Clergy Officiating was Pastor David Winter. Organist was Rita Luecke and soloist was Lawrence Biermann who sang “23rd Psalm” & “Muede Bin Ich, Geh Zur Ruh.” Honorary Casket Bearers were Roger Zellmann, Bruce Mathwig and Doug Schwark. Casket Bearers were Orlan Narr, Dennis Klammer, Tim Narr, Rev. Robert Steele, Terry Narr and Jon Narr.
Roland “Rollie” William Narr was born on Feb. 23, 1929, in Hollywood Township, New Germany, Minn. He was the son of Edwin Sr. and Frances (Luedke) Narr. Roland was baptized as an infant on March 10, 1929, and later confirmed his baptismal vows on April 18, 1943, both by Rev. W. L. Ernst at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township. He received his education at St. John’s Lutheran School and Watertown High School graduating with the Class of 1947.
Roland served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 until 1954, where his assignment was to a motor pool on Camp Pendleton, taking officers from place to place and he played his baritone horn in the Marine Corp Band, also graduating from the United States Navy School of Music in Washington D.C. Upon discharge from the service, he attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Animal Husbandry, along with minors in Agricultural Economics and Agronomy.
On Sept. 12, 1964, Roland was united in marriage to Evelyn J. Oelschlager officiated by Rev. Edwin Narr and Rev. M. J. Buchhop at Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, Minn. Roland and Evelyn lived in Norwood Young America their entire married life. They shared over 48 years of marriage.
Roland began his career in banking, first at the State Bank of New Germany and then on April 1, 1963 the State Bank of Young America became his employer, where he was the Agricultural Loan Officer and retired from that position in 1994 after 34 years in banking. He was also a licensed realtor for many years. Roland was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, where he served for 18 consecutive years on the church council in various offices and sang in the church choir until the present. He also served many years as the Secretary/Treasurer of the St. John’s Men’s Club as well as being the Memorial Chairman. Until its demise, Roland was a member of the Association of Young America Business people, which platted, developed, and sold lots for residential housing.
Roland enjoyed reading, traveling, attending Bible classes, fishing, and spending time at the cabin on Big Swan Lake near Grey Eagle, Minn. He also liked to practice his German language skills, being his family conversed only in German until he entered school. Roland cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Roland was called to his eternal rest on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 13 days.

Roland is survived by his: wife, Evelyn Narr of Norwood Young America; brother, Rev. Edwin Narr and his wife, Ellen, of Macomb, Mich.; two nieces and their families; three nephews and their families; cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Roland is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Sr. and Frances Narr.
