The Waconia track and field teams are two meets into the season, competing at indoor stadiums. Most recently, the Wildcats finished second to Hutchinson at St. Michael-Albertville April 1.
The Wildcat girls were second to Hutchinson by just one-third of a point, 57.33-57.0. Holy Family was third at 41.33, followed by Orono (34.33) and Delano (27).
“Our gals team did well with a strong second finish,” said head coach Christian Gilbert, “obviously trying to figure out the new team and make adjustments … we should do very well once again in the conference.”
The ‘Cats had at least one top five finisher in each event, beginning with the 55-meter dash where junior Miranda Schultz (7.40 seconds), senior Karlie Vallasfskey (7.60), and senior Kayla Christensen (7.70) finished 2-3-4 behind Holy Family’s Claire Oberle.
