Eight students were selected as Students of the Quarter for 3rd Quarter at Watertown-Mayer High School.
Alec Oas and Jacqueline Farniok were named Freshmen Students of the Quarter. Oas was selected for his work in Spanish I, where Ms. Pfeffer-Dittes commented, “Alec is an excellent Spanish student. He is willing to play with the language and use it regularly. In class, he helps others learn it as well.” Farniok is being recognized for excellence in English 9. Ms. Warren noted, “Jackie is a very dedicated worker in English 9 each day. She also has a wonderfully positive attitude which benefits the entire class.”
Leslie Wasser and Cole DuRand were selected as the Sophomore Students of the Quarter. Wasser received the award for her work in FST. Mr. Rosholt stated, “Leslie possesses excellent problem solving skills. She is consistently engaged during the presentation of new concepts, and she scored at or near the top of her class on every examination during third quarter.” DuRand was chosen for his success in chemistry. Mr. Hoffman believes that Cole is very deserving of this honor, and he adds, “Cole Durand works well with others and has strong class participation. His lab work is always great.”
The Junior Students of the Quarter are Morgan Windsperger and Logan Cooper. Windsperger’s nomination comes in Concert Band with Ms. McCann. “Morgan had a very busy and successful 3rd quarter in band,” McCann said. “She won superior ratings at solo and ensemble contest for her marimba solo and her snare drum in the percussion ensemble. She also accompanied two other students who received superior and excellent ratings.” Cooper was nominated by Ms. Sieling for his work in Speech. “Logan used a conversational, informative approach on all his speaking assignments that was very listenable,” Sieling said. “Above all, he effectively incorporated humor into his presentations. The class looked forward to Logan’s speeches!”
Finally, the Senior Students of the Quarter are Jay Boerner and Micaela Lindgren. Recognition for Lindgren comes from her musical achievements in Concert Band with Ms. McCann who commented, “Mia’s dedication and above-and-beyond effort on the soprano sax were excellent. The soprano sax is a very difficult instrument to play and Mia did a fantastic job, even receiving special comments from the judges at large-group contest.” Boerner was selected for his creative work in Expressive Writing. Ms. Sieling noted, “Jay worked independently on several written works. His use of vocabulary, satire, and the creativity of his selections delighted and intrigued those who read his work.”
Congratulations to these students!
