Sports 05-02-13 youth sports highlights Published May 2, 2013 at 1:50 pm Waconia’s JO 14-1 volleyball team wrapped up its successful season last week at the North Country Region Area Championships. The team competed in the 16 age division, and finished second in the Gold division. Mayer’s 12-purple HV volleyball team competed in the North Country Regional metro area tournament on April 27 in Apple Valley, placing third of 40 teams in the Gold division. The HVVC 12 Green volleyball team won the Silver bracket in the North Country Region Area Championships last weekend in Lakeville. The West Side Storm seventh grade spring basketball team made another impressive showing last weekend at the Spring Challenge Tournament in Plymouth. After losing their first game to the Hustle, the Storm fought back to win the next three over BPAA , Andover, and FSA. The Storm went on to defeat Wayzata for the title.
