TUESDAYS – Lakeside Networkers is a local BNI business networking group that meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7 a.m. at Island View Golf Club in Waconia to share referrals and grow businesses. All are welcome.

Senior Center

TUESDAYS – The Waconia Senior Center is open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Veterans of Foreign Wars building. Come and socialize. Watch for our next speaker on Reverse Mortgages for Senior coming up soon.

Lighthouse pie-coffee

Legion, VFW events

The Waconia American Legion holds a sheephead tournament at 7 p.m. on Thursdays and a Texas hold ‘em tournament at 7 and 9 p.m. on Fridays. The Waconia VFW holds a meat raffle Fridays at 7 p.m. and bingo at 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

WIC voucher pick-up

The CAP Agency WIC voucher pick-up dates for all residents of Carver County are the first and third Monday and Wednesday of each month. National Day of Prayer

THURSDAY, MAY 2 – Parents and students are invited to pray at Waconia area school flagpoles from 7:45 to 8 a.m. Trinity Lutheran School and St. Joseph Catholic School will again partner to sponsor a National Day of Prayer Celebration at 1 p.m. at City Square Park in Waconia. The program will include prayers from various children, worship songs, and a brief message. The community is invited to attend. In the event of rain, the Prayer Celebration will be held at Trinity.

Senior Dance

THURSDAY, MAY 2 – A “Spring Fling” Senior Dance will be held for all area seniors from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the NYA Wilkommen Pavilion. Entertainment by Lowell Schubert, Jerry Kahle and Nancy Buckentine. Light lunch served. Sponsored by The Harbor and Oak Grove Senior Residence.

Early Childhood screen.

FRIDAY, MAY 3 – Early Childhood Screening is a free service offered by District 110 staff that will check a child’s overall development and health. Recommended screening age is between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 years. Screening will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Early Childhood Family Center, 520 Industrial Blvd. Info: 442-0613.

WHS football meeting

MONDAY, MAY 6 – A parent and player meeting for all players interested in playing football will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Waconia High School in the cafeteria.  This will be for players entering grades 9-12 in the fall.  We will cover summer plans, important dates and an Adidas apparel sale.

Theater meeting

TUESDAY, MAY 7 – Would you be interested in Waconia-based adult community theater? A meeting designed to gauge the community’s interest in this opportunity will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Education office in Waconia.

St. Victoria sale

MAY 9-10 – The St. Victoria Council of Catholic United Financial is having a matching grant rummage sale from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 9 and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 10. Friday is bag and bargain day. Sale at St. Victoria Parish Center (8228 Victoria Dr.). All proceeds given to parish education program.

MBC Blood Drive

CA Spring Fling

SATURDAY, MAY 18 – The 5th annual Cologne Academy Spring Fling will be held at Cologne Academy. Carnival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., includes food concessions, face and hair painting, a dunk tank, bounce houses, train rides, games and prizes, free contests, and a silent auction and live auction.
