Poppy Day

The annual Poppy Day, which is sponsored by the Mayer/New Germany Post 601, will be held this Friday, May 3. Members will be selling poppies on this day throughout the cities of Mayer and New Germany.

 

St. John’s Salad Luncheon

Members of the St. John’s LWML of New Germany will be hosting a salad luncheon on Saturday, May 4. The location of the church is 17725 53rd St, New Germany. Serving time will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults are $7, children ages 5-12 are $3, and children 4 and under are free.

 

Senior Pot Luck

Monday, May 6, is the date for the next pot luck dinner for all senior citizens in the area. It will be held at the Mayer Community Center on Blue Jay Avenue. Bring a dish of food to share. Serving time is 11:30 a.m. with the game of Bunco played after the meal. Departure time is 1:30 p.m.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School at Zion Lutheran of Mayer is scheduled for the week of June 10-14. Save the date on your calendar so as not to make other plans for that week. “Tell It On The Mountain: Where Jesus Christ is Lord” is the them for this year.

 

Compost Site

For anyone in Mayer who has garden waste to dispose of, the compost is now open. Hours of service will be on Wednesday evenings from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Everyone is to use the compost site as the garbage man will not take garden waste.
