Douglas R. ‘Doug’ Tewes, age 63, of Mayer, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Memorial Service was held Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with Rev. Adam Gless officiating; a gathering of family and friends was Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service all at the church; prayer service was 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening; interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Doug was born on April 24, 1950 in Litchfield, Minn., the son of Roy and Margaret (Schlueter) Tewes. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. On Sept. 16, 1977, Doug was united in marriage to Sally A. Krueger at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills.
Doug was a true family man and loved being around his grandkids. He was always there for anyone who needed held. Doug enjoyed fixing and working on different products. Hecould fix and take apart anything. He enjoyed splitting wood, being an auto mechanic, swap meets, going to tractor pull shows and The Pioneer Power Days in LeSueur.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Margaret Tewes; infant daughters; mother-in-law and father-in-law Ray and Gloria Krueger.
Doug is survived by his loving family; wife Sally Tewes of Mayer; daughters and sons-in-law Christina and Christopher Finke of Chanhassen, Laura and Christopher Schaefer of Brookings, S.D.; son Andrew Tewes of Mayer; grandchildren Gabriel and Gideon Finke, Baby Finke (due in August); sister and brother-in-law Karen and Don Vettleson of Blaine; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Dawn Tewes of Poynette, Wis.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Becky and Gary Foley of Springfield, Mo., Joan Maurer of Shakopee, Rev. James and Carolyn Krueger of Medford, Wis., Jill and Don Dettman of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
