Fred F. Rudloff

Fred F. Rudloff, age 82, of Waconia, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Auburn Home in Waconia.
Funeral Service was held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (601 East 2nd Street) in Waconia with Rev. Phil Wagner officiating; visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at church; interment Church Cemetery.
Frederick F. Rudloff Jr. was born on June 21, 1930 in Waconia the son of Frederick F. and Anna L. (Kessler) Rudloff Sr. On July 1, 1952 Fred was united in marriage to Lorraine R. Gaulke at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
For 50 years at his Tonka Plaza Barber Shop, Fred “The Barber” served multiple generations of Lake Minnetonka-area residents. He was known as much for his quick wit, love of a good joke, and friendly demeanor, as he was for his haircuts. He built life-long relationships that endure to this day one snip at a time. He found comfort in both. Fred’s life was grounded in community. Waconia and Trinity Lutheran were constants his entire life, as was a circle of friends that was deep and true, some dating back to his early childhood days. He was generous with his time, donating countless hours to Trinity and Ridgeview Hospital, the primary beneficiaries of his commitment to volunteerism. Never one to seek the spotlight, Fred was always content to give of his time and quietly go home.
He loved being home. It was his sanctuary. Where other men had hobbies to keep them busy, all Fred needed was a lawn tractor. He reveled in the joy and hard work his five-acre slice of paradise demanded of him. Mowing, trimming, pruning, chopping, tilling and planting were anything but drudgery to Fred, becoming, instead, balm for his soul. But it was family and faith that defined Fred best and made him whole. His love of family was exceeded only by his faith in the Lord. He found his greatest joy and contentment in both.
Preceded in death by his parents Fred and Anna Rudloff; sister Ione Raether; father-in-law George Gaulke.
Fred is survived by his loving family: wife Red (Lorraine); daughters and sons-in-law Laura and Neal Burandt of Chaska, Jenny and Frank Sisser of Chanhassen; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Mary Rudloff of Chaska; grandchildren Sarah (Andy) Doughty, Matthew (Wendy) Burandt, Emily (Dan) Shively, Alyssa Rudloff, Anthony Rudloff; brother-in-law Kenneth Raether of Waconia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Liz and Pat Murphy of Brandon, S.D.; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
