Brinkmann stands out for CHS track at MRC tourney

Parry Larson earned honorable mention honors as she finished second in the triple jump, leaping 35 feet, 3 inches, and joined Abbie Schnable, Judy Larson and April Feist on the third-place 4-by-800 relay team, which had a 10 minutes, 31.16 second clocking. Larson also finished sixth in the 1600 (5:47.25).

The Central boys’ and girls’ track teams had one all conference performer and a couple of honorable mentions at the Minnesota River Conference tournament in Arlington on May 16.
The Raider girls finished in sixth place with 53 team points, while the boys finished in eighth with 24 points. The Belle Plaine girls’ (198) and boys’ teams (148) won the meet.
Individually, Sammi Jo Brinkmann won the shot put for CHS, throwing it a personal best 36 feet, 9 inches.

Other top finishers for the girls’ included the 4-by-100 team of Anna Sons, Miller, Kassidi Wickenhauser and Brooke Pischke taking fifth place (55.79); Schnable finishing fifth in the 800 (2:33.51); April Feist finishing fourth in the 3200 (13:21.00) and Miller taking third in the long jump (15-4.75).
On the boys’ side, Alek Bixby made honorable mention by finishing in a third place tie in the high jump (5-10) and in fifth place in the triple jump with a personal best 39-5.5.
Also, the NYA 4-by-100 squad of Trevor Groschen, Bixby, Jeff Worm and Austin Sim finished in fifth (47.45) and Sim took eighth in the finals of the 200 (24.95).
Next up, the Raiders will compete in a subsection meet today, May 23, at Lake Crystal beginning at 4 p.m.
