Mildred A. Wischnack, age 96, of New Germany, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the St. Mark Lutheran Church (510 Broadway Street East) in New Germany with Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.   Visitation held 4 to 8 p.m. Monday with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service (ALL) at St. Mark Lutheran Church and continue Tuesday one hour prior to the funeral. Music selections Asleep In Jesus, Amazing Grace, Just As I Am, and Muede bin ich, geh zu ruh with soloist Franklin Schoenke and organist Carol Lagergren.
Mildred Alma Louise (Will) Wischnack was born on Nov. 26, 1916 the daughter of Otto and Sophia (Stender) Will in Camden Township of Carver County. She was baptized on Dec. 17, 1916 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America by Rev. August Baumhoefner. Mildred was later confirmed in the faith on April 13, 1930 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America by Rev. Martin Abraham.   Mildred attended country school District 49 and St. John’s Lutheran School.  On April 24, 1935 Mildred was united in marriage with Gilbert A. Wischnack at the parsonage of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America by Rev. W.P. Kraemer.
Gilbert and Mildred farmed on the Wischnack family farm before moving to New Germany in 1977. Mildred was an active member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church here she served as chairperson of the funeral committee for many years.  She was also past chair of the Armed Services and Cheer. For many years Mildred was a cook for the St. Mark Lutheran School. Mildred was a member of the New Germany Senior Citizens.  She loved playing cards, bingo, baking, cooking, embroidery and fishing. Mildred enjoyed attending ball games and watching her family in sports. She was a wonderful quilter who made many quilts for weddings and for newborn babies.
Mildred cherished her family and enjoyed every single grandchild, great- grandchild and great-great-grandchild.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents Otto and Sophia Will; husband Gilbert Wischnack; brothers Clarence Will, Wilmer Will; sister Lorena Rolf.
Mildred is survived by her loving family: Children and spouses Gerald and Angie Wischnack of Green Isle, Vernetta and Robert Schwichtenberg of Waconia, Phyllis and Donald Schwichtenberg of Waconia, Ron and Geri Wischnack of Norwood Young America, Milan and Elaine Wischnack of Norwood Young America, Thomas and Monica Wischnack of Norwood Young America, Genoa and Dennis Henning of New Germany, Kevin and Connie Wischnack of Buffalo; 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren,  seven great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Ardis Lehrke of Norwood Young America;  nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Serving as casket bearers Brian Wischnack, Dale Schwichtenberg, Rick Schwichtenberg, Paul Schwichtenberg, Tony Wischnack, Tim Wischnack, Jason Wischnack, Ryan Henning, Nick Wischnack, Jason Willems.
