Alden W. Roepke, 81, of New Germany passed away on Friday May 24, at the Lighthouse in Waconia.
Alden was born on March 27, 1932 in New Germany the son of Emil and Hilda (Karels) Roepke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in New Germany. On Sept. 14, 1951 he was united in marriage to Darlene Will.
Alden graduated from Central High School in Norwood in 1950. He was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hollywood. Alden was a lifelong dairy farmer in Hollywood Twp. and a 35-year employee at Super Value Warehouse in Hopkins. He enjoyed fishing and going “up north.”
Alden was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; son, Steven; parents, Hilda and Emil Roepke; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilmer and Olga Will; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene Will, Arlen and Joan Will, Arlyce Larson, Mary Ann and Arnie Kes; and nephew, David Roepke.
Alden is survived by his loving family children and spouses, Scheryl “Scher” and Tom Moonen of Waconia, Sheila and Mark Heuer of Lake Crystal, Scott Roepke of New Germany, Shelley and Jim Borka of New Germany; grandchildren, Josh Moonen and fiancée Sara Hogel of St. Bonifacius, Alesha and Nick Schutz of Waconia, Amy Heuer of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Jayson and Becky Heuer of Las Vegas, Nev., Heidi Heuer of St. Paul, John Borka of Winsted, Jacob Borka of New Germany; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ginny Heuer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Mabel Roepke of Waseca, Darrell and Sandi Roepke of Norwood Young America; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marcia Schiferli of Excelsior, David Larson of Maple Plain, Millie and Gordy Miller of New Germany, Lanette and Curtis Thaemert of Mayer; and nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 28, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church Hollywood Twp. New Germany with Rev. Dean Mahlum officiating. Visitation was Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearer were Alden’s grandchildren.
Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia.
